In India, the citizenship law passed by Parliament and under the aegis of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the subject of challenges. For more than two months, opponents have been demonstrating peacefully against this discriminatory law against Muslims in India and its neighboring countries, giving rise to violent inter-community clashes.

The amendment in Citizenship law in India is a very big step which has been questioned by many states within India. Some states passed the bills in their respective legislative assemblies stating this amendment to be unconstitutional.

Some top political leaders and their hate-mongering speeches incited the inter-community riots in the national capital region.

It has been reported that more than 400 people are seriously injured. Videos of the demolition of a mosque in New Delhi are also observed.

The role of the Delhi Police is much questionable as the detainees are not allowed to see their lawyers. Some lawyers who tried to visit the detainees in the police custody are beaten and lathi-charged.
